Gulden Draak Ale tasting notes
Gulden Draak Ale is a Belgian Strong Ale by brewery Van Steenberge. Originally it was only brewed once a year for the local music band from the city of Assenede. This changed after and italian customer tried it and placed a huge order. Its golden dragon symbol is a reference to the dragon in the top of Gante's cathedral. It is a beer with a classical Belgian profile, with malts and yeast in the aroma with rich spicy notes, cloves, nutmeg. Taste is sweet and alcoholic with sweet malts, caramel, yeast and alcohol.
Belgian Strong Ale is a style that comprises from pale to bitter beers, with stronger yeast character than malt flavours, and higher alcohol than standard Belgian Ales. Colors tend to be light, and flavours smooth with some fruity and spicy notes.
